Top Options

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Alex Rodriguez (NYY) vs. DET 10
Jose Abreu (CWS) vs. KC 9
Yonder Alonso (OAK) at CIN 9
Miguel Cabrera (DET) at NYY 8
David Ortiz (BOS) at MIN 8
Joey Votto (CIN) vs. OAK 8
Victor Martinez (DET) at NYY 8
Kendrys Morales (KC) at CWS 8

A-Rod and Justin Verlander have some shared history, with the Yankees' slugger hitting .344 with a 1.276 OPS in 32 at-bats. Of his 11 hits, five were long balls. As Rodriguez only has seven walks this season, and is prone to slumps at his age, he's not a great options for cash games, but his GPP potential is obvious.

Ortiz and Votto have a great chance of returning cash-game value, even at their position-leading salaries. They aren't the best use of budget for cash games because if either has an off night, it would put a heavy burden on cheaper bargain bin players to perform like studs. Still, their ceilings -- multi-hit outings, plenty of RBIs and extra-base hits -- make them high-end GPP plays.

If you're in need of safer options for cash games, both of Detroit's sluggers come at a slight discount relative to their great contact-power hitting-profiles.

Myers has only gone hitless once over his last 10 games while tallying eight multi-hit outings in that span. While the former big-time prospect has had a rocky start to his career, he's having a quiet breakout season, hitting .294 with an .833 OPS. Still, he hasn't shown this level of consistency in his career to date, so it's hard to completely trust him, given his Coors Field-fueled salary.

Hanley Ramirez (BOS) at MIN 4
Justin Smoak (TOR) vs. BAL 4

The lefty-on-lefty matchup with J.A. Happ is bad news for Davis, who sports a career .236/.293/.447 line against lefties and a much better .260/.346/.527 line against RHPs. Compounding problems: "Crush" has slapped an ugly .156 average over his last 10 games. Though three of his five hits since May 30 left the park, Happ has given up just nine homers in 75 and 2/3 innings.
