Sunday's Catcher Value Rankings
Here are theScore's catcher value rankings for Sunday, June 12 (all stats exclude Saturday's games):
Value Rankings

Top Options
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Salvador Perez (KC) | at CWS | 8 |
Perez's price is extremely cheap relative to his usual cost. Injury and some recent 0-fer performances have likely led to the decrease. However, the workhorse Royal has registered two hits in back-to-back games including a homer on Friday.
Mid-Tier Targets
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Wilson Ramos (WAS) | vs. PHI | 7 |
Buster Posey (SF) | vs. LAD | 7 |
Yadier Molina (STL) | at PIT | 6 |
Brian McCann (NYY) | vs. DET | 6 |
Jonathan Lucroy (MIL) | vs. NYM | 6 |
Evan Gattis (HOU) | at TB | 6 |
Welington Castillo (ARI) | vs. MIA | 6 |
Hank Conger (TB) | vs. HOU | 6 |
Matt Wieters (BAL) | at TOR | 6 |
Bryan Holaday (TEX) | at SEA | 6 |
Ramos and Posey are wickedly expensive. A better strategy would be to go bargain hunting and use the remaining budget on more potent hitters.
After a recent slump, McCann has picked up a hit and RBI in four straight contests. As a lefty at Yankee Stadium, he is a cheap option that could smack a home run.
Whoever will play catcher for Texas at this point is a complete enigma. With Robinson Chirinos back in the fold, Holaday and Bobby Wilson are now bigger risks to sit out.
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Tucker Barnhart (CIN) | vs. OAK | 5 |
Derek Norris (SD) | at COL | 5 |
David Ross (CHC) | at ATL | 5 |
Cameron Rupp (PHI) | at WAS | 5 |
J.T. Realmuto (MIA) | at ARI | 5 |
Bobby Wilson (TEX) | at SEA | 5 |
Chris Stewart (PIT) | vs. STL | 5 |
Norris has seven homers on the season and with the Coors Field advantage, he could be looking at an eighth on Sunday. Use him in tournament play only though as his .203 average doesn't instill much confidence.
Ross will draw in the lineup as SP Jon Lester takes the hill for the Cubs.
Pittsburgh's starting catcher Francisco Cervelli was placed on the DL Saturday. As a result, Stewart should be expected to start.
