Monday's Catcher Value Rankings
Here are theScore's catcher value rankings for Monday, June 20 (all stats exclude Sunday's games):
Value Rankings
C | 1B/DH | 2B | SS | 3B | OF | SP
Top Options
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Sandy Leon (BOS) | vs. CWS | 9 |
Buster Posey (SF) | at PIT | 8 |
The Red Sox continue to find run production from everywhere in its lineup, including Leon, who is an absurd 9-for-13 with two doubles and two RBIs. There is no doubt he will regress, but Leon still remains a viable option on Monday and is a much cheaper play than Posey.
Posey's matchup against Pirates LHP Jeff Locke is highly favorable, but has his value hindered by being the most expensive player at the backstop. Furthermore, he's 9-for-16 in his last four contests and is well-rested from manning the DH spot in Tampa Bay his previous two games.
Mid-Tier Targets
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
J.T. Realmuto (MIA) | vs. COL | 7 |
Yadier Molina (STL) | at CHC | 7 |
Matt Wieters (BAL) | at TEX | 7 |
Jarrod Saltalamacchia (DET) | vs. SEA | 6 |
Willson Contreras (CHC) | vs. STL | 6 |
Robinson Chirinos (TEX) | vs. BAL | 6 |
Jason Castro (HOU) | vs. LAA | 6 |
Evan Gattis (HOU) | vs. LAA | 5 |
Nick Hundley (COL) | at MIA | 5 |
Yan Gomes (CLE) | vs. TB | 5 |
Chris Iannetta (SEA) | at DET | 5 |
Realmuto is swinging a hot bat in June, hitting .321. While his DFS salary has fluctuated much of the season, his most recent 4-for-5 outing that saw him smash one dinger and one double with three RBIs has caused his price to skyrocket and will surely result in a high-ownership percentage. He figures to check back into the lineup Monday after receiving the day off on Sunday.
If Saltalamacchia draws into the Tigers' lineup against Mariners RHP Nathan Karns, he should be considered as a flier option with his .267/.333/.633 road slashline.
Normally Gomes is an afterthought in fantasy, but with the erratic Drew Smyly toeing the rubber for the Rays and a lack of viable options at catcher, Gomes' value lies within tournaments.
Nothing to See Here
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Wilson Ramos (WAS) | at LAD | 4 |
Trevor Brown (PIT) | vs. SF | 3 |
Yasmani Grandal (LAD) | vs. WAS | 3 |
Miguel Montero (CHC) | vs. STL | 3 |
James McCann (DET) | vs. SEA | 3 |
Ramos faces the toughest matchup of the night and even though he's been one of the best fantasy catchers thus far, Clayton Kershaw has been out-of-this-world good. Leave him out of your lineups on Monday.
