Monday's Second Baseman Value Rankings
Here are theScore's second baseman value rankings for Monday, June 20 (all stats exclude Sunday's games):
Value Rankings

Top Options
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Robinson Cano (SEA) | at DET | 9 |
Ben Zobrist (CHC) | vs. STL | 9 |
Ian Kinsler (DET) | vs. SEA | 8 |
Cano continues to mash right-handed pitching, owning an astounding 1.059 OPS, with 15 of his 19 long balls coming against righties. The Tigers' Mike Pelfrey could be in for a rough night.
Cardinals' LHP Jaime Garcia hasn't been himself the last few contests, allowing an alarming eight earned runs and striking out just four. He pitches to contact, and with Zobrist posting a career-high 15.8 percent HR/FB ratio and coming at a slightly discounted price, he is a viable option.
The Tigers' offense has been one of the hottest throughout June, ranking second with a terrific wOBA (.358) as well as first in OBP (.366). Much of that is a result of leadoff man Kinsler and his own .350 OBP, which has led to 14 runs scored. As long as the offense stays hot, Kinsler will always be a staple in cash games atop Detroit's potent lineup.
Mid-Tier Targets
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Jose Altuve (HOU) | vs. LAA | 7 |
Steve Pearce (TB) | at CLE | 7 |
DJ LeMahieu (COL) | at MIA | 7 |
Dustin Pedroia (BOS) | vs. CWS | 6 |
Joe Panik (SF) | at PIT | 6 |
Rougned Odor (TEX) | vs. BAL | 6 |
Josh Harrison (PIT) | vs. SF | 6 |
Derek Dietrich (MIA) | vs. COL | 6 |
Jonathan Schoop (BAL) | at TEX | 6 |
Logan Forsythe (TB) | at CLE | 5 |
Daniel Murphy (WAS) | at LAD | 5 |
Jason Kipnis (CLE) | vs. TB | 5 |
The Astros' table setter owns an extraordinary .341 average, but his power numbers have seen a reduction as a result. Altuve's GB/FB ratio is at an all-time low 1.26, but he has made up for the lost power by registering 27 multi-hit outings.
Pedroia is enjoying a resurgence this season, slashing .303/.360/.458. He hasn't performed up to his standards the past three contests though, and has failed to record a hit. He dominates the split against RHP Miguel Gonzalez, though his recent form suggests DFS owners should only deploy him as a contrarian.
Murphy is well on his way to career-highs in almost ever single offensive category, and he has watched his Hard% increase from last year's 31.0 percent to this year's outstanding 38.8 percent. While those numbers suggest he is a must play, a date with Clayton Kershaw really hampers his value.
Nothing to See Here
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Brett Lawrie (CWS) | at BOS | 4 |
Johnny Giavotella (LAA) | at HOU | 3 |
Howie Kendrick (LAD) | vs. WAS | 3 |
Chase Utley (LAD) | vs. WAS | 3 |
Lawrie hasn't been consistent enough to be considered worthy of a flier pick. Outside of him, there is next to no power to speak of in the rest of the tier.
