Filling In Your Tuesday MLB Lineups
Here are theScore's sample daily fantasy lineups for Tuesday, June 21:
Cash Game with One Pitcher
POS | NAME | OPPONENT |
---|---|---|
P | Sonny Gray (OAK) | vs. MIL |
C | Stephen Vogt (OAK) | vs. MIL |
1B | Edwin Encarnacion (TOR) | vs. ARI |
2B | Logan Forsythe (TB) | at CLE |
3B | Todd Frazier (CWS) | at BOS |
SS | Trevor Story (COL) | at NYY |
OF | Nomar Mazara (TEX) | vs. CIN |
OF | Robbie Grossman (MIN) | vs. PHI |
OF | George Springer (HOU) | vs. LAA |
Gray may seem like an odd choice, but he's cheaper than normal and the Brewers strike out a lot. A quality start is in his forecast. By spending outside the absolute top tier, it allows for a roster of steady producers. Encarnacion has crushed the ball of late and should handle Diamondbacks LHP Patrick Corbin. Mazara and Story are oddly inexpensive as well.
GPP with One Pitcher
POS | NAME | OPPONENT |
---|---|---|
P | Ian Kennedy (KC) | at NYM |
C | Evan Gattis (HOU) | vs. LAA |
1B | Jose Abreu (CWS) | at BOS |
2B | Jose Altuve (HOU) | vs. LAA |
3B | Todd Frazier (CWS) | at BOS |
SS | Tim Anderson (CWS) | at BOS |
OF | George Springer (HOU) | vs. LAA |
OF | Lorenzo Cain (KC) | at NYM |
OF | Gregory Polanco (PIT) | vs. SF |
Rostering a pair of stacks from the White Sox and Astros provides this lineup with excellent offensive upside in favorable pitching matchups. Polanco has a reduced salary because he's facing an ace-like starter. Kennedy has struggled of late, scaring DFS owners away, but the Mets have not been scoring runs with any regularity.
Kennedy's teammate Cain saw his salary drop with Noah Syndergaard slated to start for the Mets. With his start getting pushed to Wednesday, Cain's value is much higher.
Cash Game with Two Pitchers
POS | NAME | OPPONENT |
---|---|---|
P | Jose Fernandez (MIA) | vs. ATL |
P | Sonny Gray (OAK) | vs. MIL |
C | Tucker Barnhart (CIN) | at TEX |
1B | Jose Abreu (CWS) | at BOS |
2B | Howie Kendrick (LAD) | vs. WAS |
3B | Todd Frazier (CWS) | at BOS |
SS | Marcus Semien (OAK) | vs. MIL |
OF | Charlie Blackmon (COL) | at NYY |
OF | Melky Cabrera (CWS) | at BOS |
OF | Adam Jones (BAL) | vs. SD |
Gray and Barnhart are the only names here that represent anything close to substantial risk, but provide necessary savings to roster a steady list of productive bats. Kendrick is an inexpensive flier despite slashing .333/.444/.500 over his last 10 games. Jones continues to be more productive in the leadoff spot scoring runs and driving them in with almost equal measure.
GPP with Two Pitchers
POS | NAME | OPPONENT |
---|---|---|
P | Johnny Cueto (SF) | at PIT |
P | Chris Sale (CWS) | at BOS |
C | Willson Contreras (CHC) | vs. STL |
1B | Freddie Freeman (ATL) | at MIA |
2B | Jonathan Schoop (BAL) | vs. SD |
3B | Josh Donaldson (TOR) | vs. ARI |
SS | Corey Seager (LAD) | vs. WAS |
OF | Lorenzo Cain (KC) | at NYM |
OF | Corey Dickerson (TB) | at CLE |
OF | Rickie Weeks Jr. (ARI) | at TOR |
This is probably as inexpensive as Sale will get, and one look at Boston's team OPS against LHP (.814) tells the tale. His high-K upside makes him a worthy contrarian. Contreras looks to continue starting and is dirt cheap while Schoop and Donaldson require top dollar for top power.
