theScore's Week 11 Fantasy Hitter Power Rankings
Here is the Week 11 edition of theScore's Fantasy Hitter Power Rankings, in which we list the top 40 hitters in fantasy baseball using standard 5x5 scoring (Value Based Ranks provided by FantasyPros; stats through Tuesday):
1. OF Mookie Betts, Red Sox (LW: 1)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
2 | .290 | 61 | 15 | 50 | 11 |
It was a quiet seven-day stretch for Betts, who batted .300 but had just one home run, three RBIs and three runs scored. Still, it was just enough to hold off Altuve for a second straight week atop the leaderboard.
2. 2B Jose Altuve, Astros (LW: 3)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | .343 | 50 | 11 | 40 | 18 |
Altuve sits a close second after posting an eerily similar week to Betts (.333, 4 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 0 SB). Altuve's chances of regaining top spot hinge on his ability to sustain his surprising first-half power stroke.
3. SS Xander Bogaerts, Red Sox (LW: 2)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
3 | .347 | 55 | 9 | 46 | 10 |
Bogaerts dips a spot after posting a .231 average with one homer, two RBIs, four runs scored and a stolen base over the previous seven days. Still, fantasy owners have to be thrilled with his first-half output.
4. SS/OF Ian Desmond, Rangers (LW: 6)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
4 | .312 | 51 | 11 | 46 | 13 |
Few hitters in baseball are as hot as Desmond, who is coming off yet another spectacular week (.393, 7 R, 2 HR, 4 RBI, 1 SB). He has been the fourth-best hitter in fantasy over the past 30 days.
5. 2B Ian Kinsler, Tigers (LW: 4)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
5 | .299 | 58 | 14 | 45 | 7 |
A dreadful seven-day stretch (.138, 3 R, 0 HR, 1 RBI) drops Kinsler down a spot, but fantasy owners shouldn't be concerned. He's the second best second base option in the American League, and should continue to be moving forward.
6. DH David Ortiz, Red Sox (LW: 11)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
6 | .339 | 32 | 18 | 59 | 2 |
The Ortiz Train continues chugging along, as the monstrous DH belted a pair of home runs last week to go along with four RBIs, three runs scored and a .333 average. There was also that hilariously uncontested stolen base.
7. OF Mike Trout, Angels (LW: 5)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
7 | .298 | 47 | 14 | 47 | 9 |
Not the best seven-day period for Trout, who stumbled to a .190 average with one home run, three RBIs and four runs scored. That said, if any player in fantasy can bounce back with a big week, it's this guy.
8. 1B/OF Wil Myers, Padres (LW: 16)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
9 | .292 | 46 | 16 | 44 | 9 |
Myers is the top fantasy option among National League hitters, which is absolutely mind-boggling. He and Trout share similar fantasy statistics despite being drafted 238 spots apart (according to FantasyPros ADP).
9. 2B Robinson Cano, Mariners (LW: 8)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
10 | .297 | 51 | 19 | 53 | 0 |
The hits keep on coming for Cano, who went 10-for-31 over the past seven days to near the .300 mark for the season. He added a homer, as well, and remains on pace for a career high in round-trippers.
10. 3B Nolan Arenado, Rockies (LW: 7)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
11 | .284 | 48 | 20 | 57 | 1 |
Arenado didn't exactly make waves last week, batting .280 with a homer, four RBIs and three runs scored. But when that is near the low end of what you can expect from him, fantasy owners can't really complain.
11. 3B Josh Donaldson, Blue Jays (LW: 23)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
8 | .274 | 60 | 17 | 46 | 5 |
Donaldson was named American League Player of the Week after obliterating opposing pitchers (.458, 11 R, 3 HR, 9 RBI, 1 SB). He's close to his 2015 pace, and is back in the conversation for top fantasy third baseman.
12. 3B/OF Kris Bryant, Cubs (LW: 13)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
18 | .274 | 52 | 17 | 48 | 2 |
Aside from runs scored, there's precious little separating Donaldson and Bryant, who has shown no signs of slowing in his second full major-league season. He's a near-lock for 100+ runs and RBIs at this rate.
13. 2B/3B Daniel Murphy, Nationals (LW: 9)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
14 | .356 | 40 | 12 | 46 | 2 |
The magic dust may be starting to wear off here, with Murphy looking rather ordinary last week (.250, 2 R, 1 HR, 4 RBI). He'll continue to see more than his share of RBI chances, but he'll need to keep hitting.
14. SS/3B Manny Machado, Orioles (LW: 12)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
15 | .317 | 50 | 17 | 42 | 0 |
It was a good news-bad news kind of week for Machado's fantasy owners. He erupted for a .429 average to go along with a homer, three runs scored and three RBIs, but he'll serve his suspension this week. Bench him if you can.
15. 1B Paul Goldschmidt, Diamondbacks (LW: 21)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
16 | .289 | 41 | 14 | 45 | 9 |
Goldschmidt is getting closer to where he truly belongs after going off last week (.364, 5 R, 2 HR, 5 RBI, 1 SB). The average has rebounded, the power is consistent and the steals haven't wavered at all. He's a five-category stud.
16. SS Jonathan Villar, Brewers (LW: 14)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
12 | .297 | 37 | 6 | 29 | 25 |
Villar continues to flirt with a .300 batting average, and had a homer, three RBIs, three runs scored and two steals last week. His real value lies in those thefts, but he should be able to sustain them as long as he keeps hitting.
17. OF Starling Marte, Pirates (LW: 15)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
13 | .333 | 36 | 6 | 27 | 20 |
Marte went 5-for-14 last week while adding a homer, four RBIs, three runs scored and a stolen base. He and Villar have been joined at the fantasy hip for weeks now, with little separating the players overall.
18. SS Francisco Lindor, Indians (LW: 20)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
17 | .314 | 44 | 8 | 36 | 12 |
Lindor keeps climbing up the rankings after rapping out 10 hits in just 21 at-bats over the past seven days. He chipped in four runs scored, a home run, three RBIs and two more steals, showing off his fantasy versatility.
19. 1B Edwin Encarnacion, Blue Jays (LW: 38)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
19 | .257 | 41 | 18 | 61 | 2 |
The major-league RBI leader added seven more to his total last week, batting .381 while scoring nine times, belting three homers and adding his second stolen base. He still has room to improve, too, which is scary.
20. 1B/OF Mark Trumbo, Orioles (LW: 10)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
21 | .281 | 38 | 20 | 51 | 1 |
After becoming the first major-league player to reach 20 home runs, Trumbo has been stuck there for more than a week. He was just 7-for-29 with zero runs scored and two RBIs last week. He's streaky, but solid overall.
21. 1B Anthony Rizzo, Cubs (LW: 28)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
23 | .269 | 43 | 17 | 53 | 2 |
The Rizzo yo-yo took an upward bounce last week, as the Cubs slugger batted a sizzling .368 with three homers, six RBIs and five runs scored. The batting average might finally stabilize now; then again, it might not.
22. OF Marcell Ozuna, Marlins (LW: 32)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
20 | .322 | 44 | 15 | 43 | 0 |
Ozuna posted an identical fantasy stat line to Rizzo, resulting in a mammoth 10-spot jump in the rankings. He hasn't exactly come out of nowhere, but his fantasy output has been one of the biggest surprises so far in 2016.
23. 1B Eric Hosmer, Royals (LW: 30)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
24 | .310 | 39 | 12 | 44 | 4 |
Hosmer remained stuck on 12 home runs last week but contributed in other areas, batting .280 with seven runs scored and six RBIs. He isn't quite in the top tier of first basemen, but he's knocking on the door.
24. OF Carlos Gonzalez, Rockies (LW: 36)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
25 | .311 | 46 | 15 | 37 | 1 |
It was another prolific week for CarGo, at least from a batting average perspective. He hit 11-for-26 with a homer, three RBIs, five runs scored and his first stolen base of the season.
25. OF Gregory Polanco, Pirates (LW: 18)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
26 | .293 | 44 | 9 | 39 | 9 |
Some fantasy owners may look at Polanco's year-to-date stats and wonder if he played at all last week. He sure did - but he managed just a .250 average with one run scored, one stolen base and zero home runs or RBIs. Yuck.
26. SS Trevor Story, Rockies (LW: 22)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
27 | .264 | 40 | 18 | 46 | 4 |
It was another typical Story week, as he posted a .300 batting average with a pair of home runs, four RBIs and four runs scored. Fantasy owners wouldn't mind a few more stolen bases, but otherwise, he has been a revelation.
27. OF Jay Bruce, Reds (LW: 27)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
28 | .274 | 40 | 15 | 51 | 3 |
Bruce keeps chugging along, batting .292 over the previous seven days with a home run, five RBIs and three runs scored. There's still a good chance he gets traded, so fantasy owners should be mindful.
28. 2B/3B/SS Eduardo Nunez, Twins (LW: 19)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
22 | .321 | 33 | 9 | 25 | 16 |
Everyone who jumped aboard the Nunez bandwagon was no doubt left unimpressed by last week's performance (.292, 0 R, 0 HR, 1 RBI, 1 SB). He'll run hot and cold, but is a stat-sheet stuffer and a must-roster play.
29. OF Jackie Bradley Jr., Red Sox (LW: 17)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
29 | .305 | 36 | 12 | 45 | 5 |
Bradley was quiet last week, hitting just 6-for-24 with a pair of solo homers accounting for his entire runs scored and RBI totals. It's possible his early-season hot streak is over, but he's good enough to finish in the top 40 overall.
30. 2B/OF Ben Zobrist, Cubs (LW: 24)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
30 | .316 | 48 | 9 | 41 | 3 |
Zobrist was a solid fantasy contributor over the previous seven days (.292, 4 R, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 1 SB), and approaches the all-star break as one of the top multi-positional players in fantasy. Expect some second-half regression.
31. OF Adam Duvall, Reds (LW: --)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
32 | .257 | 38 | 20 | 48 | 2 |
Duvall is the unlikeliest member of the 20-homer club, going deep twice last week to reach the plateau. He chipped in four RBIs, five runs scored and a stolen base, but his .237 career mark belies legitimate batting average concerns.
32. 1B Miguel Cabrera, Tigers (LW: --)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
31 | .309 | 40 | 15 | 43 | 0 |
Cabrera has been a force over the past seven days, hitting a sky-high .429 with five runs scored, seven RBIs and three homers - one of which nearly left the planet. He may be aging, but when he's on, few first basemen are better.
33. OF Carlos Beltran, Yankees (LW: 34)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
33 | .283 | 38 | 18 | 48 | 0 |
An injury limited Beltran last week, but he still found a way to go deep twice while adding three runs scored and four RBIs in just 16 at-bats. He'll see more rest in the second half, but is a good bet to reach 30 home runs.
34. OF Nelson Cruz, Mariners (LW: 26)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
35 | .286 | 41 | 16 | 46 | 0 |
Cruz underwhelmed last week, batting just .233 with one home run, three RBIs and 14 strikeouts over 30 at-bats. But that's a small quibble for a player that continues to produce in his mid-30s.
35. OF Bryce Harper, Nationals (LW: 25)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
36 | .255 | 41 | 14 | 42 | 7 |
After a week that saw him bat .240 with four runs scored, a homer and four RBIs, we're now 48 games separated from Harper's early hot streak. The numbers: .228 BA, 5 HR, 19 RBI, 4 SB. That's bad fantasy production.
36. OF Yoenis Cespedes, Mets (LW: 29)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
37 | .284 | 38 | 17 | 43 | 1 |
Those who chose to hang on to Cespedes after his sizzling start may be wishing they hadn't. He has just two home runs in 61 plate appearances so far this month, and there's no telling when the swoon will end.
37. 3B Evan Longoria, Rays (LW: --)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
38 | .278 | 40 | 18 | 43 | 0 |
The unexpected home run barrage continues for Longoria, who went deep three more times last week to go along with four runs scored and six RBIs. It's likely an unsustainable pace, but he should get to 30 homers with ease.
38. OF George Springer, Astros (LW: 31)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
39 | .262 | 47 | 15 | 41 | 5 |
Springer takes a major tumble after recording just four hits over 24 at-bats in the previous seven days. A home run, four RBIs, four runs scored and a stolen base salvaged some value, but he'll need that batting average to rebound.
39. 2B Rougned Odor, Rangers (LW: --)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
40 | .271 | 45 | 13 | 34 | 6 |
Odor returns to the rankings following an impressive week in which he batted .345 with three home runs, four RBIs and a whopping eight runs scored. If he can keep his hands to himself, he'll be a candidate for a top-25 spot.
40. OF Rajai Davis, Indians (LW: --)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
34 | .264 | 35 | 7 | 27 | 21 |
Davis is as streaky as they come, making his way back into the top 40 after recording the top hitter fantasy week for the second time this season (.444, 5 R, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 6 SB). Ride him while he's red hot.
