Teague dealt to Pacers in 3-team trade

The Atlanta Hawks have traded point guard Jeff Teague to the Indiana Pacers as part of a three-team deal involving the Utah Jazz.

The Pacers plan on signing Teague to a contract extension once his current deal runs out at the end of next year.

As part of the trade, the Pacers will send guard George Hill to the Jazz, while Atlanta will receive Utah's No. 12 pick in Thursday's NBA draft.

Teague, a native of Indianapolis, averaged 15.7 points on 43.9 percent shooting, 5.9 assists, and 2.7 rebounds in 79 appearances last season for the Hawks.

The move indicates Atlanta is ready to hand over the reins to Dennis Schroder, who had previously expressed his desire to be a starter. Schroder - who the Hawks reportedly hope to sign to a rookie extension this summer - averaged 11 points and 4.4 assists as Teague's primary backup.

Hill has spent the past five seasons suiting up in Indiana after being acquired from the San Antonio Spurs during the 2011 draft for a pick that wound up being eventual two-time Defensive Player of the Year Kawhi Leonard. He contributed 12.1 points and four assists per game while shooting 40.8 percent from deep in 2015-16.
