Report: Talks ongoing between Bulls, Timberwolves regarding Butler
Trade talks between the Chicago Bulls and Minnesota Timberwolves involving Jimmy Butler broke down after Chicago demanded Zach LaVine over Ricky Rubio in the deal, The Vertical's Shams Charania reports, citing sources. However, ESPN's Marc Stein reports that Minnesota is continuing to engage in talks built around Butler and Kris Dunn.
Chicago was reportedly attempting to pry both LaVine and the No. 5 pick from the Timberwolves. Instead, Minnesota chose Providence point guard Kris Dunn with the selection.
Talks between the two teams had reportedly been ongoing for months, but Minnesota was ultimately unwilling to part with its young point guard.
With Dunn now on the roster, the Timberwolves now have three players capable of leading an NBA offense.
