Tiger-Cats sign former Notre Dame, Florida State QB Everett Golson
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats made a significant addition to their quarterback depth chart Monday, agreeing to terms with former Notre Dame pivot Everett Golson.
The TiCats seem to be taking the void left by the injured Zach Collaros very seriously. Golson will first be added to the practice roster, the TiCats announced via the team website.
Golson brings three years of NCAA experience to Hamilton, having played two seasons for the Fighting Irish before transferring to Florida State for his senior season. Golson's most notable season came in 2012 when he helped lead Notre Dame to a 12-0 record and a birth in the BCS National Championship game, eventually falling to Alabama by a score of 21-0.
In the NCAA, Golson was a career 590-of-964 for 7,628 yards with a 61.9 pass completion percentage. He also recorded 52 touchdown passes and proved to be a dual-threat field general as he amassed 546 rushing yards over his three collegiate seasons.
The 23-year-old will look to compete with incumbent starter Jeremiah Masoli, rookie Jake Waters and Jeff Mathews for playing time while Collaros recovers from ACL surgery.
