Falcao leaves Chelsea after reportedly costing club £1.46M per shot on target
Adios, tchau, and arrivederci.
Three contracts came to an end at Chelsea on Friday, as the Blues said goodbye to Radamel Falcao, Alexandre Pato, and Marco Amelia.
Falcao joined Chelsea on a season-long loan from AS Monaco last year but started only one Premier League fixture during what proved to be a disaster of a spell at Stamford Bridge. Jose Mourinho believed he could resurrect the Colombian forward's declining career, but, according to Alistair Tweedale of The Telegraph, the flop ultimately cost the Blues £32,000 per minute, £809,000 per shot, and £1.46 million per shot on target.
Pato, meanwhile, arrived at Chelsea on loan from Corinthians in January. The Brazilian forward scored on his debut - a 4-0 victory over Aston Villa - but only went on to make one more appearance and struggled with fitness.
Last but not least, Amelia was signed by Chelsea as a free agent last October when Thibaut Courtois underwent knee surgery. However, the Italian 'keeper never took the pitch for the Blues.
