Blues sign Perron to 2-year, $7.5M deal
The St. Louis Blues signed forward David Perron to a two-year contract with an annual average of $3.75 million on Friday, the club announced.
Perron was drafted by the Blues in 2007 and returns to the club he spent the first six seasons of his career with.
Perron split last season between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Anaheim Ducks. He finished with 12 goals and 24 assists, but was much better after a midseason trade to California.
"He's coming back as a much more mature player on and off the ice, and we're going to be the benefactors of that," Blues general manager Doug Armstrong said. "He's 28 years old and you saw how well he played after his trade to Anaheim. We view him certainly as player that can play in the (top nine). He's versatile, he can play on the right wing or left wing. He gives the coach some options."
The Blues were Perron's first option.
"St. Louis is home to me," he said, according to NHL.com's Lou Korac. He added, "In a way, to kind of step away for three years and realize how much I miss this place and come back is going to be good."
