Report: Wade talking to Knicks, Bucks
If Dwyane Wade's legendary time in Miami is up, we may be getting an idea of the future Hall of Famer's potential suitors.
Wade, an unrestricted free agent, is reportedly in discussions with the New York Knicks and Milwaukee Bucks, according to ESPN's Brian Windhorst. In addition, Windhorst reports that Wade could hold meetings next week after returning from his European vacation, with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Charles Gardner adding that the Bucks already have one such meeting scheduled.
Wade, of course, spent his collegiate years in the Milwaukee area while attending Marquette.
The 34-year-old averaged 19 points, 4.6 assists, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.1 steals in his 13th season with the Heat in 2015-16, helping lead the team back to the playoffs.
Wade, a 12-time All-Star, eight-time All-NBA guard, former scoring champion, and former Finals MVP, signed a one-year contract last summer worth $20 million.
Wade has also taken less than the max or settled for a short-term deal at other points, while the Heat were either adding superstars like LeBron James and Chris Bosh, or while the team was trying to secure flexibility for such top-tier talents.
With that in mind, ESPN's Ramona Shelburne reports that a source close to Wade told her "he wants to be compensated for his pay cuts."
Earlier on Friday, the Heat agreed to a four-year contract worth a reported $98 million with free-agent center Hassan Whiteside, and will now turn their attention to a Sunday meeting with Kevin Durant.
