Brighton snags Glenn Murray on loan from Bournemouth

Languishing in Eddie Howe's Cherries squad behind fellow attackers Benik Afobe, Callum Wilson, and Joshua King, Bournemouth striker Glenn Murray has agreed to a one-year loan with Championship heavies Brighton & Hove Albion.

"We are delighted that Glenn is joining us and that we have managed to secure someone of his experience and ability for the new season," Brighton gaffer Chris Hughton said Sunday.

Murray, 32, is no stranger to the south coast Seagulls, having spent four seasons there before moving to Crystal Palace in 2011. In 118 appearances, Murray scored 53 times for Brighton.

"Everyone at the club, and the supporters, know what Glenn will offer us. He is a real attacking presence who can lead the line, he’s powerful in the air, and his goal-scoring record speaks for itself," Hughton added.

As delighted as Hughton appears, Murray seems equally elated to rejoin the thriving Championship side. Having finished fourth, sixth and third in three of the last four second-tier campaigns, the Seagulls have been on the cusp of Premier League promotion, and Murray could be the variable that helps Brighton win promotion.
