Durant called Thunder GM before announcement
Having spent the entirety of his career with the Oklahoma City Thunder franchise, Kevin Durant made the courteous move of letting them down easy.
Durant announced to the world that he would join the Golden State Warriors in a Players' Tribune post.
But before he did that, Durant made sure to personally call up Thunder general manager Sam Presti, according to The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The 27-year-old also explained in his piece that he was eternally grateful to Oklahoma City for the opportunities the team gave him.
I will miss Oklahoma City, and the role I have had in building this remarkable team. I will forever cherish the relationships within the organization – the friends and teammates that I went to war with on the court for nine years, and all the fans and people of the community. They have always had my back unconditionally, and I cannot be more grateful for what they have meant to my family and to me.
Durant is the Thunder's franchise leader in points, minutes, and rebounds. Now it's up to his former running mate Russell Westbrook to shatter those marks.
