Wednesday's Second Baseman Value Rankings

Here are theScore's second baseman value rankings for Wednesday, July 6 (all stats exclude Tuesday's games):

Value Rankings
C | 1B/DH | 2B | SS | 3B | OF | SP

Top Options

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Jose Altuve (HOU) vs. SEA 9
Robinson Cano (SEA) at HOU 8
Jean Segura (ARI) vs. SD 8

There isn't much Altuve can't do on the baseball field. He hits for power, a terrific average and has already swiped 21 bags. With the Mariners sending LHP Wade LeBlanc to the mound, Altuve can be deployed on every DFS site.

Cano leads all second baseman in bombs with 19 and has a cool .303 average to go with it. The Mariners offense has been productive thus far, ranking seventh in team OPS with .772. He and the rest of the squad draw Astros' RHP Mike Fiers. You really can't go wrong with Cano.

The Diamondbacks' table setter has been filling out the statsheet his last 10 games, hitting an incredible .381 with nine runs scored, four extra base hits, five RBIs, six walks and five stolen bases; including two on Monday night against the Padres. What he lacks in over-the-fence pop he makes up for in other ways.

Mid Tier Targets

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Neil Walker (NYM) vs. MIA 7
Daniel Murphy (WAS) vs. MIL 6
Brian Dozier (MIN) vs. OAK 5

Walker has filled in nicely at the keystone for the Mets, crushing 15 homers with 35 RBIs thus far. Though he is known as a switch-hitter, he favors the right side of the dish for an average, hitting .321 against LHP compared to a meager .247 against RHP. He draws Marlins' LHP Justin Nicolino Wednesday night.

The real concern about Murphy on Wednesday evening is his game-time status. He was 'banged up' but suited up Tuesday night, which has all signs pointing towards him playing again. If he isn't healthy, he would fail to return value relative to his gargantuan salary.

Dozier's five dingers in 10 contests are tough to ignore, but even after ending a 12-game hitting streak and only registering one hit in 10 at-bats, he found ways to supply value. Over his last three games he has scored four runs while plating three more. Dozier's value, however, is limited by the watered down Twins lineup.

Nothing to See Here

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Derek Dietrich (MIA) at NYM 4
Josh Harrison (PIT) at STL 3
Rougned Odor (TEX) at BOS 3

Dietrich continues to fill in quite nicely for the Marlins with Dee Gordon suspended, slashing .302/.395/.446. A matchup with Mets' young ace Jacob deGrom isn't something to target Tuesday night, though.

Harrison hasn't been getting on base regularly, which hinders his value atop of the Pirates order.

Even though he's in the midst of a hot-streak, Odor has regressed a bit from his strong start to the season, and owns a middling .771 OPS.
