Here are theScore's third baseman value rankings for Saturday, July 9 (all stats exclude Friday's games):

Top Options
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Evan Longoria (TB) | at BOS | 10 |
Jake Lamb (ARI) | at SF | 9 |
Martin Prado (MIA) | vs. CIN | 8 |
Red Sox SP Rick Porcello hasn't gone deeper than the sixth inning in any of his last four starts and was tagged for four runs (three earned) on 12 hits in his previous outing. Longoria has an .842 OPS against RHPs this season, despite batting right-handed. The Rays' star is very affordable, given a good matchup in a fantastic hitter's park. Tournament returns are possible.
Lamb has .314 batting average with a 1.343 OPS over his last 10 games and despite playing home games in a favorable hitter's park, he's actually hit better on the road this year. For his career, Lamb has hit .375 with a 1.182 OPS in 57 plate appearances in San Francisco. Every factor seems to add up to a player that is worth his sky-high DFS price.
Prado has the third-highest OBP -- .446 -- against LHPs among qualified third basemen.
Mid-Tier Targets
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Todd Frazier (CWS) | vs. ATL | 7 |
Maikel Franco (PHI) | at COL | 6 |
Nolan Arenado (COL) | vs. PHI | 5 |
Frazier and the White Sox bats could get to the Braves' bullpen early; projected starter Julio Teheran missed his most recent start with a thigh infection, and with little to play for except the future, if he's not at 100 percent on Saturday, expect his outing to be a brief one.
Temper expectations with Franco. Though the young slugger has hit five homers in his last nine games (and four in his lat five), not to mention the location of Saturday's game, his OBP against lefties this season is an ugly .297. He's had these power streaks in the past, so GPP returns are still possible, but don't count on him in cash games.
Arenado has been in a slump of late. He's still hitting for extra-base power but he's not the safest option at his price tier.
Nothing to See Here
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Chase Headley (NYY) | at CLE | 4 |
Eugenio Suarez (CIN) | at MIA | 3 |
Jung Ho Kang (PIT) | vs. CHC | 2 |
Headley has been hot. Cleveland SP Danny Salazar has been hotter, posting a 2.64 ERA over his last 10 starts.
Suarez has just one extra-base hit in his last 10 games and will struggle to clear the bases at cavernous Marlins Park.
Kang, hitting just .185 over his last 10 games, gets the unenviable matchup with Cubs star Jon Lester.
