Here are theScore's first baseman/DH value rankings for Saturday, July 9 (all stats exclude Friday's games):

Value Rankings
C | 1B/DH | 2B | SS | 3B | OF | SP

Top Options

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Anthony Rizzo (CHC) at PIT 9
Adrian Gonzalez (LAD) vs. SD 9
Paul Goldschmidt (ARI) at SF 8

Any time Rizzo is outside the top-five most expensive first basemen, he's worth considering, especially against a right-handed pitcher. Pirates SP Chad Kuhl has only made two starts, but Rizzo shouldn't have much trouble. Rizzo has hit .323 with 14 home runs off righties this season and with a slightly suppressed DFS salary, he needs to be owned.

Gonzalez and Goldschmidt are steady as they come, especially since Gonzalez has finally shaken the brief cold spell he was in. Both see their salaries dip, likely due to park factors, but multi-hit games aren't out of the question. Even without home runs, they can easily return cash game value.

Mid-Tier Targets

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Hanley Ramirez (BOS) vs. TB 7
A.J. Reed (HOU) vs. OAK 6
Brandon Belt (SF) vs. ARI 5

Ramirez is the first-base eligible Red Sox player worth rostering againts Rays LHP Matt Moore. While teammate David Ortiz is not a net-negative against lefty pitching, he's considerably less effective with a .262 batting average compared to a .359 average against right-handers. Ramirez, on the other hand, has hit .364 against LHPs and is even a little less expensive than Ortiz.

Reed is a high-risk flier with loads of power potential and a microscopic sample size. While he's struck out a whopping 41.2 percent of the time through his first 34 plate appearances, all of his hits have come off righties. Athletics RHP Kendall Graveman has struggled against lefty bats. Give Reed a look in tournaments.

Nothing to See Here

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
David Ortiz (BOS) vs. TB 4
Freddie Freeman (ATL) at CWS 3
Jose Abreu (CWS) vs. ATL 2

Freeman is in a situation where the algorithm predicting a poor showing is probably correct. While he has hit above .300 against LHPs this season, he's facing one of the best in White Sox SP Jose Quintana who has kept left-handed hitters to a .208 batting average and has not allowed a single home run. With the Atlanta offense being weak in general, RBI chances will be rare.

First base should be avoided in that game altogether. It was announced Friday that Braves SP Julio Teheran would make the start, which will limit the struggling Abreu who hasn't hit a home run since June 23. Teheran has only made one terrible start since April, and that was his last one. Abreu could luck into one, but the odds are not in his favor.
