Here are theScore's second baseman value rankings for Saturday, July 9 (all stats exclude Friday's games):

Value Rankings
C | 1B/DH | 2B | SS | 3B | OF | SP

Top Options

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Rougned Odor (TEX) vs. MIN 9
Chase Utley (LAD) vs. SD 9
Trea Turner (WAS) at NYM 8

Odor has great value in both cash games for his consistency and tournaments for his explosive upside. He has three multi-hit games in his last four and while his salary requires a bit of an investment, he's not among the most expensive at the position. As he faces Twins RHP Ricky Nolasco, he should be started in all formats.

Utley got Friday night off and should find himself back atop the Dodgers lineup on Saturday. He's steady if unspectacular, but has hit .284 against RHPs this season, which is just about in line with his career numbers. With the run scoring opportunities boosted from hitting leadoff, he's an affordable cash game staple.

Turner is back in the bigs. If he starts, he should be rostered fairly heavily against Mets SP Logan Verrett, who has been the shakiest of Mets starters, a role he occupies only occasionally.

Mid-Tier Targets

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Yangervis Solarte (SD) at LAD 7
Jose Altuve (HOU) vs. OAK 6
Aaron Hill (BOS) vs. TB 6

Solarte is inexpensive and while he has showcased greater power against left-handed pitching, he's no slouch from either side of the plate. He's hit .410 over his last 10 games and should continue to be rostered.

Altuve is very expensive, which could deter DFS owners from heavily rostering him. He does it all and rarely goes bust, though on the odd occasion he does, like Thursday, he can sink an entire lineup.

Hill could be a solid option in tournaments because of his power upside. He has hit better against right-handed pitching, but should be getting a start in the infield with 3B Travis Shaw on the shelf with a day-to-day injury. In formats where he's eligible at 2B, Hill makes for solid salary relief.

Nothing to See Here

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Brian Dozier (MIN) at TEX 4
Jason Kipnis (CLE) vs. NYY 3
Cesar Hernandez (PHI) at COL 2

Dozier's ceiling is a home run with a bucket of RBIs. He could do this against Rangers RHP Nick Martinez, but he owns a significantly lower .235 batting average against RHPs than his .313 against lefties in 2016. The power potential is there, but he has to be limited to GPPs if he's rostered at all.

Kipnis is often a bust against southpaws, and can't be trusted against Yankees SP CC Sabathia, who he has not found success against in limited at-bats. Hernandez is another victim to the Coors Field boost. He's generally a decent option at second base, but not at the required price point in Colorado.
