Here are theScore's shortstop value rankings for Saturday, July 9 (all stats exclude Friday's games):

Value Rankings
C | 1B/DH | 2B | SS | 3B | OF | SP

Top Options

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Xander Bogaerts (BOS) vs. TB 10
Corey Seager (LAD) vs. SD 9
Carlos Correa (HOU) vs. OAK 8

Bogaerts has handled pitchers of all ilks this season, but has hit .345 against LHPs. Rays LHP Matt Moore has struggled more often than not and Bogaerts has gone 5-for-10 against him with a pair of doubles. Small sample size, but it just magnifies how strong a play Bogaerts is.

Seager should almost always be rostered against a righty, and Saturday against Padres SP Luis Perdomo is no different.

Correa is a steady cash game option who seems to have fully recovered from his early season struggles. He's slashed .270/.364/.459 over his last 10 games with six runs scored and 10 batted in.

Mid-Tier Targets

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Manny Machado (BAL) vs. LAA 7
Francisco Lindor (CLE) vs. NYY 6
Elvis Andrus (TEX) vs. MIN 5

Machado's power may have dried up recently with only one home run in 10 games, but he hasn't slowed down otherwise. He's cruised to a .326 batting average in that time while driving in 10 runs and scoring eight more. In the potent Baltimore offense, if he's not hitting a home run, he's bound to be on base while someone else does.

Lindor is in a bit of a tailspin heading into the break. He's batting only .184 over his last 10 games, but has hit LHPs well overall and gets Yankees SP CC Sabathia, who has allowed at least five earned runs in three consecutive starts.

Andrus doesn't do much more than hit for a decently high batting average, but he'll steal the odd base and drive in the odd run. He's not that expensive, and even though the handedness matchup isn't in his favor, Twins SP Ricky Nolasco has been hit hard by fellow righties, so it's moot.

Nothing to See Here

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Danny Espinosa (WAS) at NYM 4
Alcides Escobar (KC) vs. SEA 3
Didi Gregorius (NYY) at CLE 2

With Trea Turner called back up to the big league club, Espinosa may not garner as many starts. When he does, he's boom-or-bust with an emphasis on bust. While he has hit .333 with five home runs and 15 RBIs in his last 10 games, he's also gone hitless four times and four home runs and 13 RBIs came from two specific, magical games. He's only suited for GPPs.

Even when Escobar and Gregorius get hits, the follow through is hardly anything special. The four home runs Gregorius has hit over his last 10 are anomalous to his career norms and Cleveland SP Danny Salazar has toyed with lefty batters all season. He's staring a hitless game in the face.
