Report: Middlesbrough hoping to take Negredo on loan from Valencia

Middlesbrough is currently in the middle of "painstaking" negotiations with Valencia over a loan deal for striker Alvaro Negredo, according to the Press Association.

The stumbling block is the player's wages, with Boro unwilling to pay 100 percent of his salary next season.

But the newly promoted Premier League outfit, flush with resources from the new multi-billion-pound television deal, is still hoping to bring the former Manchester City poacher back to England.

Negredo scored 23 goals across all competitions in what would be his only season with City in 2013-14. He joined Valencia initially on loan, and Los Che then made the move permanent for £19 million.

The 30-year-old, however, scored just 10 La Liga goals over the past two terms as he struggled to nail down a spot in the starting XI.

He would be Boro's sixth signing of the season, with the potential to follow countryman Victor Valdes through the doors of the Riverside Stadium.
