Ginobili signs reported 1-year, $14M contract with Spurs

The Tim Duncan era is over, but Manu Ginobili will endure with the San Antonio Spurs for at least one more season.

Ginobili signed a reported one-year contract worth $14 million on Thursday, according to The Vertical's Shams Charania.

While there was little belief that Ginobili would go elsewhere after he announced his intention to return to the NBA for a 15th season, his agent had made it clear that the Argentine veteran was going to get a significant raise related to the spiking salary cap. Another report from The Vertical Thursday said that the Philadelphia 76ers' pursuit of Ginobili significantly drove the Spurs' offer up.

Ginobili made a bargain-basement $2.8 million in 2015-16, so Thursday's reported numbers indicate a $12-million pay increase.

Ginobili turns 39 in two weeks and is slated to play for Argentina in next month's Olympics. Last season was his first in the NBA since his rookie year that he did not average double-digits in scoring per game. Still, Ginobili shot 39.1 percent from deep with a true shooting percentage of 57.3.
