Facing "The Immortal" on Saturday, Jake Ellenberger showed that he's the one who still has plenty of life left in him.
Ellenberger broke out of a career-worst slump and made history at UFC 201 in Atlanta when he became the first fighter to finish Matt Brown by strikes. The veteran welterweight looked like he was shot out of a cannon as he floored Brown right off the bat with an overhand right.
The gritty Brown fended off the ensuing onslaught to make it back to his feet, but a liver kick from Ellenberger dropped him for a second time. "The Juggernaut" followed him to the mat and poured it on with ground-and-pound until the fight was waved off at the 1:46 mark of Round 1.
Ellenberger is back on the winning track after losing five of his past six bouts. His UFC record now stands at 10-7.
As for Brown, the loss leaves him mired in a slump in which he's lost four of his last five.
