Manchester City appears to have met the deadline set by FC Schalke 04 after the German outfit confirmed Leroy Sane didn't travel on its preseason trip.
Die Konigsblauen had stated if Sane was on the plane for the training camp in Austria that a projected transfer to City was off, but the precocious winger is in Manchester undergoing a medical ahead of a transfer worth £37 million plus add-ons, according to BBC Sport's Simon Stone.
New manager Pep Guardiola had confessed an interest in the 20-year-old on June 21, and finally, after speculation which began last December, a deal is now nearing completion.
Sane made his senior bow in April 2014 but rose to prominence last term as his lightning pace and speed of thought bamboozled defenders throughout the Bundesliga. He made 23 starts in 2015-16, scoring eight times and teeing up teammates on six occasions.
He mostly cropped up on the right flank for Schalke, meaning he'll offer direct competition for Jesus Navas, who tallied more minutes across all competitions than any other City player in the last campaign.
The Guardian understands Sane could make his City debut in Sunday's friendly against Arsenal, and he's set to become the side's fourth first-team signing this summer after Ilkay Gundogan, Nolito, and Oleksandr Zinchenko.
Interest apparently remains in John Stones, 22, but City is attempting to strike a deal under the £50-million asking price Everton has set for the defender.
