Jose Aldo is putting his faith in UFC president Dana White to bring him Conor McGregor.

While the Irish superstar has plenty on his plate already with his upcoming main event bout against Nate Diaz at UFC 202 on Aug. 20, Aldo is looking forward to facing McGregor for a second time when he completes his business at welterweight.

McGregor took the featherweight title from Aldo last December with a 13-second knockout victory and Aldo is eager to avenge that loss. Speaking at a recent media day in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Aldo expressed confidence that White would make that fight happen.

"That's what Dana said," Aldo said, according to Chisanga Malata of the UK's Daily Star. "Dana said his next fight has to be at featherweight, so I'm hopeful."

There are any number of variables in play when it comes to booking McGregor. A win over Diaz would even their series at one win apiece, which could necessitate a blockbuster trilogy bout.

McGregor and his camp have also stated several times that he has difficulty cutting down to 145 pounds, so he could decide to continue his career at lightweight instead.

As much as Aldo wants McGregor, he's content to defend his own interim featherweight title that he won by beating Frankie Edgar at UFC 200, even if a date with his nemesis isn't in the cards.

"I'm thinking about that (fighting McGregor) and hope that is the case," Aldo said. "But if it's not, I have no problem. I want to be champion. Whoever they put in there, I will win."
