Everton hasn't wasted any time in finding a replacement after John Stones' £47.5-million switch to Manchester City, with Swansea City reportedly accepting a £12-million bid from the Toffees for Ashley Williams, according to BBC Sport.
Everton apparently had its first offer of £10 million rejected by the Swans earlier in August.
Danny Gabbidon, a former Wales international and consultant for Williams' agent, stated that the transfer only requires a medical to be completed.
Williams joined Swansea from Stockport County for £300,000 in March 2008. He's represented the South Wales club across three tiers, and inherited the skipper's armband from Garry Monk in 2013.
Williams initially failed to make the grade at West Bromwich Albion through being born in nearby Wolverhampton, but went on to become an esteemed international for Wales - the homeland of his maternal grandfather.
It was previously reported that Ronald Koeman and Steve Walsh, the new manager and director of football respectively, quickly highlighted Williams as a chief defensive target this summer, given the likelihood of Stones' exit and repeated injury issues for 33-year-old Phil Jagielka.
Other players capable of playing in the middle of the Toffees' back four include the inconsistent Ramiro Funes Mori and youngster Brendan Galloway.
In Williams, 31, they would acquire an uncompromising centre-half who's helped establish Swansea as a Premier League club since its promotion from the second tier in 2011. His current deal on the Welsh coast runs until 2018.
The Koeman era at Everton begins with a visit from Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
