Here are theScore's second baseman value rankings for Sunday, August 14 (all stats exclude Saturday's games):

Top Options

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Jose Altuve (HOU) at TOR 9
Neil Walker (NYM) vs. SD 8
Robinson Cano (SEA) at OAK 8

There certainly isn't a lack of elite options at the keystone on Sunday, with Altuve leading the pack. He has been unstoppable this season and leads the league with a .365 average and has a 1.008 OPS. He also surpassed his career-high in HRs, crushing 19 thus far. With Blue Jays' scuffling SP Marcus Stroman on the mound, a multi-hit game is possible. He's worth every penny.

The switch-hitting Walker has been on a tear his past eight contests, owning a .471 OBP and two long balls. Padres' LHP Clayton Richard has been around the block a few times but the veteran hurler's 6.46 ERA speaks for itself. Walker has cash game appeal despite playing in a Mets lineup plagued by injuries.

Cano has one of the steadiest floors in DFS. He terrorizes right-handed pitchers in both contact (.310 average) and power (18 homers). He's normally a lock to return his high-cost and should do it with ease against Athletics spot starter and righty Zach Neal.

Mid-Tier Targets

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Jean Segura (ARI) at BOS 7
Ben Zobrist (CHC) vs. STL 6
Brandon Phillips (CIN) at MIL 5

Segura has been a machine leading off for the Diamondbacks this season. In his past four games specifically, he's 7-for-20 with three extra base hits and four runs scored. Arizona has scored 13 runs its last two games so there's plenty of cash game upside around Segura.

Zobrist has been in the midst of a power drought, but could change his fortunes against Cardinals' LHP Mike Leake, who has allowed a 15.3 HR/FB ratio -- the highest it has been since his forgetful 2012 campaign with the Reds. The Cubs' lineup is red-hot, but with Zobrist's recent struggles, it's best to limit him to just tournaments.

Though Phillips has lost some home run pop, hitting just eight on the season, he's made up for it hitting .360 since the All-Star break, raising his season average by 21 points. His salary has increased drastically due to the increased production, but he's still a sly GPP play.

Nothing to See Here

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Dee Gordon (MIA) vs. CWS 4
Rougned Odor (TEX) at DET 3
Yangervis Solarte (SD) at NYM 3

Gordon will leadoff against White Sox ace and southpaw Chris Sale while Odor will face the Tigers' rookie standout, Michael Fulmer. There are much better options to choose from at second base, even at their discounted price. Solarte is 0-for-9 his last three games and similar to Gordon and Odor, he's just not worth rostering.
