Pulis: 'Big 2 weeks' for West Brom in transfer window

Tony Pulis feels his West Bromwich Albion outfit is "almost stagnated" and that it needs some significant recruitment before the transfer window slams shut Aug. 31.
The Baggies were taken over by Chinese investors last month, and Pulis reportedly received assurances over his job shortly afterward. Not exactly accustomed to spending money through stints at the likes of Plymouth Argyle, Stoke City, and Crystal Palace, the Welshman is keen to take full advantage to address a thin squad.
"The club has had, and still has, a lot of players who have been here for a long time," said Pulis following Saturday's 1-0 away win at Crystal Palace.
"They've been fantastic players, fantastic servants, but they need competition, they need people who can play in that team and want to be in that team. That's what this club needs."
One expected sale could be Saido Berahino, who had a transfer request turned down last summer amid interest from Tottenham Hotspur, but West Brom's alleged move for Diafra Sakho fell through shortly after the West Ham United striker underwent a medical.
It means West Brom's summer business comprises of the £5.5-million capture of Matt Phillips from Queens Park Rangers, with the only notable exits being Victor Anichebe, Stephane Sessegnon, and Anders Lindegaard.
"The club has almost stagnated, and it really needs to get on its front foot," Pulis continued.
"We're trying to do business, we need to do business, and we'll go from there. Hopefully we'll get it in the next two weeks. It's a big two weeks for me and the football club."
With a commendable three points on the board, West Brom welcomes Ronald Koeman's Everton to The Hawthorns next Saturday.
