Aston Villa announced Wednesday the signing of midfielder Mile Jedinak from Crystal Palace on a three-year contract, bringing on the Australia international after he lost the Palace captaincy to Scott Dann.
Jedinak brings to a close a five-year chapter with Palace that ended in unceremonious fashion not befitting a player heralded for his importance to the team's cause just three years prior, as he led the team to promotion into the Premier League.
The 32-year-old returns to the Championship and Villa will hope he can do the same with its newly relegated side.
Jedinak made 27 Premier League appearances last season, neither scoring nor assisting, but enjoyed a strong 2014-15 campaign where he scored five goals and recorded three assists in 24 league appearances.
And, while he faced the shame of losing the captaincy at Selhurt Park, Jedinak still proudly wears the skipper's armband for the Socceroos. He joins a host of fellow Australians in the English Championship.
