Swedes sub Lindholm for Kronwall on World Cup team
NEW YORK (AP) Sweden has added Hampus Lindholm to its World Cup roster and removed two-time Olympian Niklas Kronwall from the 23-man team.
The Swedish Ice Hockey Association announced the move Wednesday.
Kronwall was limited to 64 games with the Detroit Red Wings last season because of a knee injury. The 35-year-old defenseman has 74 goals and 365 points over 12 NHL seasons.
Lindholm is on Sweden's top hockey team for the first time in an international competition. The 22-year-old defenseman has 23 goals and 92 points over three NHL seasons with the Anaheim Ducks.
The Swedes, who won gold at the 2006 Olympics, will have one of eight teams in next month's World Cup in Toronto.
