Report: Stoke exploring Bony loan for £2M

In a transfer window that has seen huge amounts splurged by English clubs, Wilfried Bony could be available at a cut-price fee of £2 million.
Stoke City is making a late push to loan the Manchester City striker, according to The Telegraph's John Percy, and the asking price for a season-long stay isn't unreasonable, particularly considering Bony cost around £28 million just one-and-a-half years ago.
A main stumbling block could be the Ivorian's salary, however, with Stoke likely to explore the possibility of City continuing to pay a substantial portion of his £110,000-a-week wages if Bony shifts to the Potteries.
Another hurdle seems to be various other clubs eyeing the 27-year-old, with West Bromwich Albion believed to be in the hunt for a striker. Crystal Palace may have ended its respective search for forwards, though, since capturing Loic Remy in a loan deal on Tuesday.
After showing his incredible strength and an ability to find the onion bag with great regularity at Swansea City, the 27-year-old has struggled in Manchester, bagging six league goals in 36 appearances. His goal-scoring rate at the two clubs has dropped from a goal every 2.16 games to one in every six.
Stoke has had a well-documented pursuit of West Brom's Saido Berahino this summer, but the apparent Bony interest means manager Mark Hughes is exploring other options ahead of Wednesday's transfer deadline.
There could be further outgoing players from the Bet365 Stadium before the window shuts, too. Joselu is yet to feature in the new campaign and has allegedly been interesting Newcastle United, while Philipp Wollscheid and Geoff Cameron's futures aren't assured in Staffordshire.
