Hull City announced Tuesday the signing of midfielder Ryan Mason on a three-year deal from Tottenham for an undisclosed transfer fee.
The fee was reportedly set at around £8 million, according to Luke Edwards of The Telegraph, but while the Tigers didn't confirm the amount, they announced the deal broke the club record £10-million purchase of Abel Hernandez set two years ago.
The 25-year-old joins a newly promoted Hull team looking to survive in the English top flight once again this season.
"I'm delighted and excited to be here," Mason said in a statement. "I can't wait to get started and I see this as a massive opportunity for me."
Mason is a product of the Tottenham youth system and has been part of the senior team since 2008, though he spent several years on loan to various teams in England and enjoyed a spell with FC Lorient in Ligue 1 in 2012-13.
He finally broke through Spurs' senior ranks in 2014, making 31 league appearances and scoring one goal in the 2014-15 campaign. He kept a consistent spot in the team last season, making 22 league appearances and scoring one goal.
