With just three league starts under his belt and a Premier League medal to show for his efforts, Gokhan Inler has ditched one Champions League side for another, joining Turkish champ Besiktas from Leicester City.

Inler, 32, reportedly joins Besiktas on a three-year deal, after the club announced Wednesday that the Swiss international had passed his medical with the club.

Swiss-born with Turkish heritage, Inler made one appearance for Turkey's Under-21 side before notching his Swiss debut in 2006 against Venezuela. The nation's fifth-most capped player, he went on to captain the Swiss for the 2014 World Cup, but was not named to Vladimir Petkovic's side for Euro 2016 after failing to secure consistent minutes at the King Power Stadium.

The 89-time capped Rossocrociati joined Premier League winner Leicester on a three-year deal for a reported £3 million last summer from Napoli, and the FC Basel product was poised to assume the defensive midfield duties for Claudio Ranieri's lot. That is, until fellow summer signing N'Golo Kante emerged as one of the top flight's best midfield lynchpins, pairing with Danny Drinkwater.

Inler was unveiled Wednesday alongside Caner Erkin and Atinc Nukan, as Besiktas adds a trio of defensive-minded footballers to its ranks ahead of a Sept. 13 Champions League date with Benfica.
