Gael Monfils has long been one of the ATP's pre-eminent players of possum, but this was on another level.
In the middle of a point during his fourth-round US Open match against Marcos Baghdatis on Sunday, the flashy Frenchman bent down and pretended to tie his shoe after hitting a lob. Then, in a blink, he sprung back into action and moved to return Baghdatis' shot from the baseline. It ... didn't go too well.
Monfils advanced to the quarterfinals with a straight-sets win.
