The 22-year-old is also adept in midfield - operating centrally for Monaco's opening two matches of the current campaign - and has gained much attention for his measured and indefatigable work in Ligue 1.
Fabinho made his first strides in professional football at Portugal's Rio Ave after spending his formative years in his native Brazil. A two-year loan followed at Monaco in 2013 that became permanent last summer, and over his French stint he has emerged as one of the most sought-after youngsters on the continent.
In remaining loyal to Monaco, Fabinho can continue to develop through his Champions League commitments, with his employer being drawn alongside CSKA Moscow, Bayer Leverkusen and Tottenham Hotspur in the group stages.
