Oklahoma State AD: 'Incomprehensible' ref error led to loss
Oklahoma State is still in shock after losing to Central Michigan in improbable fashion Saturday, and athletic director Mike Holder seems to be the most perplexed.
The Chippewas were given an extra play after a misinterpretation of the rules by officials and a Cowboys penalty, which ultimately allowed a Hail Mary/hook-and-ladder play to occur.
"We had conversations with everyone that could help us understand the situation and do something about the outcome," Holder said after the game. "We were told the result is final and there is nothing we can do about it. In my mind, it is incomprehensible that a misapplication of the rules after time has expired can't be corrected."
MAC officials issued a statement afterwards admitting the error, but that the final score would stand.
"The final score shows that Oklahoma State lost the game but that doesn't mean that I have to agree with it," Holder added.
