Motiejunas' agent claims Rockets yet to make serious offer
Forward Donatas Motiejunas remains in restricted free-agency limbo as negotiations with the Houston Rockets are at a standstill.
His agent, former player B.J. Armstrong, was hoping a deal would have been reached by now.
"They haven't made us a serious offer," Armstrong told ESPN's Calvin Watkins on Wednesday. "Our moment of truth will be October 1. We'll make a decision on that day."
Houston tendered the 25-year-old Lithuanian a $4.4-million qualifying offer, thus making him a restricted free agent on the open market. As a result, the Rockets can match any offer that comes his way.
Motiejunas has met with new head coach Mike D'Antoni over the summer, who told him that he'd have a "significant" role with the team during the 2016-17 regular season.
The Rockets originally traded him to the Detroit Pistons prior to the February deadline, but it was annulled after Motiejunas failed his physical due to back issues.
Media day is currently scheduled for Sept. 23, with training camp getting underway the following day.
"There's only so much we can do based on the current CBA," Armstrong added. "I'm not frustrated, this is what it is. We'll know where the Rockets stand by (Oct. 1). All deals get done in the 11th hour."
In only 37 appearances last season, Motiejunas averaged 6.2 points and 2.9 rebounds on 43.9 percent shooting.
