FIFA World Rankings updated: Wales above Spain, Italy
Argentina has retained its spot at the top of the World Rankings in the latest update from FIFA, with Wales claiming a place back in the top 10 ahead of Spain, Italy, and England.
The recent World Cup qualifying results of Argentina and Wales have curried favour with the game's global governing body, with Brazil rising a notable five positions into fourth after defeating Ecuador and Colombia earlier this month.
Chris Coleman's Wales, which reached the Euro 2016 semi-finals this summer, was ranked 117th in Aug. 2011, marking a meteoric rise for what is regarded as the strongest representative from the British Isles.
The biggest short-term ascent up the rankings came from Bolivia, who vaulted 35 places into 75th, and the worst showing came from the Central African Republic who dropped 35 positions to 122nd.
