Cavs' Mo Williams to return for one final season
Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Mo Williams has one more year of basketball left in him before he calls it a career.
The 33-year-old announced on his Twitter account Wednesday evening that he will be returning to the team for the 2016-17 regular season.
He told ESPN's Chris Haynes that this will be his final year in the league, and that he's at peace with his decision.
It was on July 10 of last year when the 13-year veteran inked a two-year, $4.3-million contract with the franchise to commence his second stint in a Cavaliers uniform. Williams picked up his player option worth approximately $2.2 million back in June.
He averaged 8.2 points and 2.4 assists while shooting 43.7 percent from the field in 2015-16, starting the first 11 games for Cleveland as Kyrie Irving continued his recovery from a left kneecap fracture.
Once Irving returned, though, Williams' role drastically decreased, sparingly coming off the bench from that point on. He also missed all games between Feb. 18 and March 24 as he dealt with swelling in his left knee.
