This is why intentional walks are an integral part of the game.
With the Minnesota Twins down 4-3 to the Detroit Tigers in the ninth inning on Thursday, right-hander Pat Light had one job - put Erick Aybar on base.
But as he went to deliver the intentional walk, he threw the ball over the catcher, allowing the run to score from third.
Manager Paul Molitor didn't hesitate to jump out of the dugout and replace him with right-hander Michael Tonkin, who promptly gave up a three-run home run to Victor Martinez.
