Mikael Backlund is headed back to Calgary.
The Swedish forward's time at the World Cup has been cut short as he rehabs a concussion, Swedish coach Rikard Gronborg confirmed Saturday.
The injury, suffered Sept. 20 vs. Finland, kept Backlund out of the lineup last game.
The 27-year-old scored 47 points in 82 games with the Flames last season.
