Here are theScore's catcher value rankings for Saturday, October 1 (all stats exclude Friday's games):

Value Rankings
C | 1B/DH | 2B | SS | 3B | OF | SP

Top Options

Name Opponent Value
Pedro Severino (WAS) vs. MIA 9
Yadier Molina (STL) vs. PIT 8
Evan Gattis (HOU) at LAA 8

The bargain-priced Severino has hit .333 with two home runs through 24 at-bats, and it looks like the rookie will be given a regular chance to play against left-handed pitching. Miami LHP Wei-Yin Chen holds a 5.02 ERA and has been roughed up in two post-DL September outings.

Molina's doing his best to get St. Louis to the playoffs, hitting .447 with a home run and seven RBIs over his last 10 games.

Gattis has been a reliable source of power, with five home runs in his last 10 games, and 32 on the season.

Mid-Tier Targets

Name Opponent Value
Curt Casali (TB) at TEX 7
Martin Maldonado (MIL) at COL 7
Gary Sanchez (NYY) vs. BAL 6

Casali has homered four times in 72 at-bats against lefties and has three multi-hit outings in his last five games.

An affordable Coors Field option, Maldonado has a streak of two straight multi-hit games.

Sanchez is priced where he essentially needs a home run to return appropriate value. Not an outlandish possibility, but the likes of Gattis provides similar power potential at a lower price.

Nothing to See Here

Name Opponent Value
James McCann (DET) at ATL 3
Buster Posey (SF) vs. LAD 3
Nick Hundley (COL) vs. MIL 2

McCann is only worthy of DFS consideration when he's facing a left-hander (.258 average, nine homers in 120 at-bats). He's not on Saturday.

The Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw has allowed just one run over his last three starts. Even a reasonably-priced Posey doesn't offer a whole lot of potential.

There's no guarantee Hundley even starts, as he's hitting just .194 at home to right-handed pitching, with two home runs in 93 at-bats. He's not worth his artificially-high Coors Field price.
