Here are theScore's first baseman/DH value rankings for Saturday, October 1 (all stats exclude Friday's games):

Value Rankings
C | 1B/DH | 2B | SS | 3B | OF | SP

Top Options

Name Opponent Value
Freddie Freeman (ATL) vs. DET 8
Chris Davis (BAL) at NYY 8
Eric Hosmer (KC) vs. CLE 8

Freeman can't be ignored, as he's hitting .471 over his last 10 games, with five multi-hit efforts and three home runs in that span. He'll face Detroit righty Jordan Zimmermann, who has struggled with injury and ineffectiveness over the season's second half.

Davis (and teammate Pedro Alvarez) is a nice value play against New York RHP Luis Severino. Both players have combined for 51 home runs against righties this season and have lower-mid-range prices on some sites.

Indians starter Trevor Bauer has allowed at least four runs in each of his last four starts, so Hosmer looks like a solid bet to take advantage if Bauer can't regain his form. Hosmer has hit .284 with 17 home runs against right-handed pitching.

Mid-Tier Targets

Name Opponent Value
Chris Carter (MIL) at COL 7
Miguel Cabrera (DET) at ATL 6
Joey Votto (CIN) vs. CHC 6

Carter has homered four times in his last 10 games and enters hitter-friendly Coors Field without too prohibitive of a price bump.

Cabrera isn't a poor selection despite his relative lack of value. He's attempting to drag the Tigers to the playoffs, collecting seven hits (including two home runs) and nine RBIs over his last three games. His price is rather unforgiving if he can't live up to that standard, however.

Nothing to See Here

Name Opponent Value
Brandon Moss (STL) vs. PIT 2
David Ortiz (BOS) vs. TOR 2
Brandon Belt (SF) vs. LAD 2

Ortiz is just 3-of-16 against fellow lefty J.A. Happ, and he's in the midst of a cold streak, going 0-for-10 in a three-game set with the Yankees. There's also the chance he could be handed a rest against a southpaw, as well.

Even though he'll be facing a right-handed pitcher, Moss remains a no-go. He's just 6-for-80 in September, though he has homered twice.
