Goaltender Rankings: Standard Leagues
Follow theScore's fantasy feed on Twitter (@theScoreFantasy) for the latest news, features and more.
The rankings apply to standard-scoring leagues. Skaters accumulate value via goals, assists, plus/minus, penalty minutes, power-play points, and shots on goal. Goalies track wins, goals-against average, save percentage and shutouts.
Rank | Player | Team |
---|---|---|
1 | Carey Price | MTL |
2 | Braden Holtby | WAS |
3 | Ben Bishop | TB |
4 | Henrik Lundqvist | NYR |
5 | Jonathan Quick | LA |
6 | Cory Schneider | NJ |
7 | Corey Crawford | CHI |
8 | Roberto Luongo | FLA |
9 | John Gibson | ANA |
10 | Martin Jones | SJ |
11 | Jake Allen | STL |
12 | Tuukka Rask | BOS |
Washington may attempt to lessen Holtby's workload in the early parts of the season, after he noticed a substantial decline in production near the end of the year. This will allow Price to regain the top spot at the position, despite a potentially low win total. With Brian Elliott out of St. Louis, look for Allen's fantasy contributions to improve with more work.
Rank | Player | Team |
---|---|---|
13 | Pekka Rinne | NAS |
14 | Matt Murray | PIT |
15 | Petr Mrazek | DET |
16 | Devan Dubnyk | MIN |
17 | Robin Lehner | BUF |
18 | Frederik Andersen | TOR |
19 | Marc-Andre Fleury | PIT |
20 | Cam Talbot | EDM |
21 | Brian Elliott | CGY |
22 | Semyon Varlamov | COL |
23 | Jaroslav Halak | NYI |
24 | Steve Mason | PHI |
Murray and Mrazek will share the creases of their respective teams, but they are the better halves of the tandems. Win totals may be capped, but the ratios will be elite. Lehner and Andersen are the alternatives, wherein they'll have full workloads but aren't quite of the same caliber. The teams they play for will be the toughest challenge to overcome.
Rank | Player | Team |
---|---|---|
25 | Sergei Bobrovsky | CLB |
26 | Thomas Greiss | NYI |
27 | Craig Anderson | OTT |
28 | Connor Hellebuyck | WPG |
29 | Jimmy Howard | DET |
30 | Ryan Miller | VAN |
31 | Jonathan Bernier | ANA |
32 | Mike Smith | ARI |
33 | Cam Ward | CAR |
34 | Kari Lehtonen | DAL |
35 | Antti Niemi | DAL |
36 | Michal Neuvirth | PHI |
37 | Andrew Hammond | OTT |
38 | Jacob Markstrom | VAN |
39 | Marek Mazanec | NAS |
40 | Carter Hutton | STL |
In cases such as Bernier, the situation as a backup is superior to Smith and Ward's starting jobs. Bernier plays for an elite defensive team, limiting the scoring chances he'll face. He's in a much better spot now than he was in Toronto.
