Blake Griffin wouldn't go that far, but the Los Angeles Clippers power forward wants to shoot the 3-pointer more "confidently."

"I want to be someone who shoots from there confidently, for sure," Griffin said Thursday, according to the OC Register's Dan Woike. "I don't necessarily think falling in love with the 3-point shot is a good idea, but shooting it confidently from there is great."

Perhaps the top power forward in the game, the explosive Griffin has never been one to routinely pull defenses out and bury a trey. While his best season from beyond the arc was actually impressive - 40 percent accuracy in 2014-15 - it came on only 25 shots from deep. His career average from downtown is just over 27 percent.

"The further out I can stretch, the more I can help open up the floor," he added.

His coach, Doc Rivers, doesn't think it's crucial.

"I think that’s something we'll see. He works on his shot," Rivers said. "It'll either come or not, and I'm good either way."

Enhancing that dimension of his game would not only keep defenses honest, it would also make Griffin more lethal. In the meantime, staying healthy is his priority. While he's averaged 21.7 points and eight rebounds over the past two seasons, he's also missed 82 of a possible 164 games.
