Kings' Zatkoff hits IR after groin injury in practice
The Los Angeles Kings can't catch a break in the crease.
Starting goalie Jeff Zatkoff - who's got the job while Jonathan Quick is out - suffered a groin injury in practice Saturday, head coach Darryl Sutter confirmed.
Zatkoff is officially on injured reserve, the Kings announced, and Jack Campbell has been recalled from the Ontario Reign. Peter Budaj is expected to start Saturday's game against the Vancouver Canucks.
Zatkoff had to be helped off the ice and there's no word on the severity of his injury, Rosen writes.
"There's nothing really you can do about it," Drew Doughty said of the Kings' bad luck in goal. "We just have to battle through it. If (Zatkoff) happens to be out with Quickie too, then we know Buds can play."
The Kings are off to a tough start, winning only one of four games, while the Canucks are a perfect 4-0.
Budaj has the Kings' only win, a 4-3 decision over Dallas in which he stopped 17 shots.
