Watch: Rizzo secures final out to send Cubs to World Series
Jon Durr / USA TODAY Sports
For the first time in 76 years, the Chicago Cubs are World Series bound.
After Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks tossed 7 1/3 shutout innings in Game 6 against the Los Angeles Dodgers, closer Aroldis Chapman came in to finish off the 5-0 win.
With one out in the ninth inning, Chapman walked Carlos Ruiz to bring a slight hush upon Wrigley Field. That moment of anxiety was short-lived, however. Chapman got Yasiel Puig to ground into a series-ending double play, putting the Cubs in the World Series for the first time since 1945.
Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo, who caught the final out, said he plans to sleep with the baseball.
