NFL has no comment on Vikings' alleged bounty program
The NFL has no comment on the alleged bounty program employed by the Minnesota Vikings during the 2008-09 season, according to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.
Former Vikings offensive lineman Artis Hicks revealed the team had a program - similar to that of the New Orleans Saints - in which players would be paid cash for injuring an opponent.
"It was part of the culture. I had coaches start a pot and all the veterans put in an extra $100, $200, and if you hurt someone special, you get the money," Hicks said, in an excerpt of Jeff Pearlman's book, published by Deadspin.
Brad Childress, Vikings head coach when the program reportedly existed, has denied the claim.
Whether or not the league is investigating is still unknown, but it seems unlikely, considering it showed no inclination to look into other teams while penalizing the Saints in 2012.
