Report: Cormier likely out until March with torn adductor in groin

Troy Taormina / USA TODAY Sports

Daniel Cormier is dealing with a torn adductor in his groin that's expected to sideline him until March, according to RJ Clifford of FOX Sports.

The UFC light heavyweight champion's injury forced him to withdraw from his UFC 206 main event bout with Anthony Johnson earlier Friday.

Cormier missed time earlier this year due to a foot injury that prevented him from facing Jon Jones at UFC 197. He returned to defeat Anderson Silva at UFC 200 via unanimous decision, extending his three-fight winning streak.

The UFC has yet to announce how it will deal with the loss of the main event for the Toronto card. The co-main event is a highly anticipated tilt between Max Holloway and Anthony Pettis.
