Report: Blake Griffin to undergo knee surgery; out until January
Los Angles Clippers power forward Blake Griffin will undergo minor surgery on his right knee and is expected to return in January, sources tell Shams Charania of The Vertical.
The news is something of a stunner as Griffin played 38 minutes without visible incident in Sunday's 117-110 loss to the Washington Wizards. He scored 26 points with seven rebounds and seven assists.
While Charania reports the surgery as minor, it's yet another injury issue for a player who has struggled mightily to stay healthy over the last few years. Last season a combination of a quad injury and a broken hand suffered punching a team employee cost him 47 games. In 2014-15, a staph infection in his elbow sidelined him for 15 contests.
Griffin underwent surgery on his left knee as a rookie in 2010.
