Agent leaves door open for Lukaku exit with Everton extension almost done

Romelu Lukaku's new Everton contract doesn't guarantee a future beyond the current campaign, according to the Belgian's agent.

Mino Raiola revealed his client's new contract is virtually complete, as the forward - whose current deal expires in 2019 - edges closer to becoming the best-paid player in club history.

"With Everton, we have 99.9 percent reached terms," the agent said in an interview with talkSPORT radio, as transcribed by Sky Sports. "We are talking to the club in a good spirit so we are very hopeful. There are no problems on the way that I foresee.

"I don't see any big problems. It is a question of putting the details on the paper."

However, the new contract - which will reportedly see Lukaku's weekly wages increase from £25,000 to £100,000 - likely won't end speculation regarding the 23-year-old's future, as Raiola refused to rule out a possible transfer next summer.

"If Romelu is good enough, strong enough, to move in the next year then we will talk to Everton about it," Raiola said. "It is a very good relationship at the moment. We know what both parties want."

Raiola added that he feels the club's ambitions have changed over the years as the Merseyside outfit sets its sights on lucrative objectives.

"Everton is going through a transition from a club that was maybe aiming for Europa League and now they are more ambitious and maybe in the near future will go into the Champions League or maybe even win the Premier League at a certain stage," he said.

"In football, you can't look too much in front. You need to take it one transfer window at a time. For now, we are agreeing terms and then we will see in the summer what happens and how the situation is.

"If there is an interest from both parties to move on, then we will talk with the club, but at this point we only have one objective and that is to perform as well as possible for Everton."

Last summer, Lukaku submitted a transfer request but changed his mind despite interest from his former club Chelsea and Italian champion Juventus.
